The Danish Medical Bulletin (DMB) will publish original papers and review papers from authors around the World. Furthermore, we will publish dissertation papers (doctor of medical science) and ph.d.-theses from medical faculties in Danish Universities.
For all papers, dissertations, or theses one of the authors has to be a member of the Danish Medical Association in order to have their work published for free in the DMB. If the author is not a member of the Danish Medical Association an author fee will be applied. The author fee for an acticle is 2,000 Euro and 1,000 Euro for a dissertation paper.
Submission of dissertation papers: Go to Ugeskriftet.dk for detailed instructions (in Danish).
Submission of manuscripts: 1. Original papers and review papers from outside Denmark should be submitted by e-mail to dmb@dadl.dk. We only receive these manuscripts by e-mail.
2. Original articles and review papers from Danish authors should be submitted through the electronic manuscript system at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ugeskriftet. Please notify in the submission that the paper is intended for The Danish Medical Bulletin.
Authorship:
Authors should fulfil the criteria for authorship set by the Vancouver group (www.icmje.org). All three criteria for authorship should be fulfilled. This has to be stated in the authorship declaration and should be submitted by e-mail to dmb@dadl.dk for foreign authors or through the electronic submission system for Danish authors.
We ask authors to disclose four types of information. First, their associations with commercial entities that provided support for the work reported in the submitted manuscript (the time frame for disclosure in this section of the form is the life span of the work being reported). Second, their associations with commercial entities that could be viewed as having an interest in the general area of the submitted manuscript (the time frame for disclosure in this section is the 36 months before submission of the manuscript). Third, any similar financial associations involving their spouse or their children under 18 years of age. Fourth, nonfinancial associations that may be relevant to the submitted manuscript.
Original papers: Maximum size is 14.000 units including spaces but without references, figures and tables. The abstract should maximum contain 1.600 units including spaces. Maximum 20 references. Abstracts should be structured including sections: introduction, methods, results and conclusion. Original articles from Denmark shall publish a Danish summary in the Ugeskrift for Læger (this abstract is 3.200 units including spaces). Please refer to the instructions for authors for Ugeskrift for Læger for detailed instructions.
Reviews: Maximum size is 20.000 units including spaces but without references, figures and tables. The abstract should maximum contain 1.600 units including spaces. Maximum 40 references. The abstract should not be structured.
Study registration
All studies including human subjects have to be registered on an open web-site such as e.g. www.clinicaltrials.gov. The registration number should be included in the abstract of the original article after the conclusion as well as in the methods section in the paper.
Figures and tables
A table is good to present exact data while a graph better illustrates a tendency. Avoid three-dimensional presentations. Don’t present your data twice (e.g. in text and table or figure). We prefer illustrations in their original format, e.g. as PowerPoint or Excel files.
If an illustration has been published before we need a written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce the illustration in your article.
References:
The list of references should be performed according to the guidelines stated by the Vancouver-group (www.icmje.org). The DMB requires the following exceptions: 1. If more than three authors on a given publication only the first three authors are stated in the reference list followed by “et al.”. 2. No point after the name of the Journal. 3. No issue number of the Journal, only volume number and page numbers.
The title of the Journal should be abbreviated according to pubmed (www.nlm.nih.gov). References should be numbered consecutively throughout the text.
