General remarks on pay system
The pay system has three basic scales for registrars, senior registrars and unit specialists. A qualifications supplement has been agreed centrally for registrars and senior registrars (the amount depending on the stage of the specialist training). To this must be added any personal and/or decentrally agreed supplements.
Basic salary
The basic salary scale for registrars has two brackets. The first five years doctors are in bracket 1 (DKK 25.927,75), and after five years they are in the final bracket (DKK 28.374,92).
(If you had a seniority of eight years or more on 31 March 2000, you are under the transition scheme).
Senior registrars all receive the same basic pay irrespective of their seniority. The basic salary for senior registrars is DKK 32.783,58.
(If you had a seniority of eight years or more on 31 March 2000, you are under the transition scheme).
Unit specialists' basic salary too only has one bracket of DKK 45.378,42.
Qualifications supplements
All doctors - except unit specialists - receive a pensionable supplement, which depends on the stage of the specialist training.
When the National Board of Health (Sundhedsstyrelsen) has granted authorisation as a general practitioner, the doctor will receive a monthly supplement of DKK 2.952,08. This supplement is granted in any circumstances after two years' employment as a doctor.
After the first year of the specialist training - e.g. a one-year introductory post or the first year of the general practice block - the monthly supplement is increased to DKK 4.418,42.
When the National Board of Health has granted accreditation as a specialist, the monthly supplement is increased to DKK 5.544,83.
Pension
Pension amounts to 15,79 percent of the salary including qualificatioins supplements. Decentrally agreed supplements entitle as a point of reference to pension unless other is agreed upon.
Decentrally agreed supplements
In addition to the centrally agreed salary, it is possible decentrally to agree qualifications and function supplements. Preliminary agreements on decentrally agreed supplements have been concluded with many county authorities. Further it is possible to negotiate individual supplements, for example in connection with change of posts, special qualifications and functions.
Shift-work supplements, etc.
Doctors working between 20:00 and 8:00 Monday through Friday and between 8:00 and 20:00 in weekends will receive a supplement of DKK 51,09 per hour. For work in weekends between 20:00 and 8:00 an out-of-hours supplement of DKK 85,59 per hour is payable.
Short notice
Short notice of overtime work with a notice of less than 72 hours triggers payment of a supplement of DKK 1.036,32 each time. You must remember to record it yourself.
If no notice is given and the duty is in continuation of an ordinary duty and takes more than 3 hours, you are entitled to DKK 518,16 each time.
Transition scheme
A transition scheme has been made for registrars and senior registrars with a seniority of eight years or more on 31 March 2000. Instead of following the basic salary scales above, the development in such doctors' basic salary follows the old basic salary scale.
Only the doctors' seniority is decisive as to whether they are on the transition scheme or not. This means that doctors under the transition scheme will remain under this scheme even if they change posts, whereas others will never enter the transition scheme even though they subsequently obtain a seniority of eight years.
Frequency of shifts
If due to vacancies, holidays or the like you cannot observe the rules on frequency of shifts, the salary for working hours after 18:00 of such shifts must be paid out.
